Frequently Asked Questions
- How does the Coaching Sanctuary help me set and achieve goals?
We all have visions and goals. Sometimes we’ll tell a friend about a goal we have, or daydream wistfully about it, but never come any closer to achieving it. The Coaching Sanctuary makes your goals more solid and achievable by giving you a concrete set of steps you can follow to move steadily forward. Each time you set a new goal, you will also define it.
These definitive details of a goal describe exactly what you want to achieve, the obstacles in your way, what it will feel like to achieve your goal, and how you will reward yourself at the end. At this point in the process, you will also set regular practices and actions that are associated with each goal to divide your larger goal into smaller, bite-size steps.
Sometimes focusing on the larger goal can seem overwhelming, but tackling a single step is quite achievable and surprisingly rewarding. Friends can also be great supporters in helping you reach your goals. Plus, working together is much more fun.
- What is the Vision Board?
This part is really fun. When you first begin to set your goals, you get to create a Vision Board: a collection of pictures that you can customize to represent the personal goals you have set for yourself. These can be picture, magazine clippings, inspirational words, or whatever encouraging and motivational images you choose to bring your goal to life. The more goals you customize—and the more you customize your goals—the greater the personal inspiration your Vision Board will provide you toward achieving them.
- How do I add pictures to my Goals & Vision Board?
The idea of adding pictures (photos and images) to your Goals & Vision Board is to provide you with a vision of what your life would look like once you have achieved all your goals. The pictures can inspire, motivate and encourage you to achieve your goals. These can either be from your personal collection, or stock photos or images from Punchstock, a royalty-free website that pulls photos and images from other sites including Getty Images and Jupiter Images.
To add a personal picture to your goal, simply click on the blank photo icon to the right of the Goal Details. The picture you wish to upload will need to be saved somewhere on your computer—either on the desktop or in one of your local file directories.
To add a stock picture from one of the royalty-free websites, you must first copy the picture from the website to your computer. To do this, simply browse from the royalty-free collections or type a descriptive word, such as 'weight loss,' in the search field at the top left-hand corner of the website. To select a picture, just right click on it, and then select 'Save Image As' from the options that appear in the pop-up window. Next, browse your computer for the location where you want to save the picture, name it and click 'Save.' Now, from Goal Details, click on the blank photo icon to the right and follow the prompts to upload the picture (same as you did for entering a personal photo). The pictures that you upload for each goal will be displayed on the Vision Board and in the Goal Details section for that goal.
You can also send a photo from your favorite photo application, such as Photoshop, Photoshop Express, Elements, or Picasa, by sharing the photo with the email address photos@csvisionboard.com. Your photo will automatically find it's way to your private Coaching Sanctuary album. From there you can add it to your goals or your journal, and it will show up in your vision board. The photos that you upload are only used for your personal Coaching Sanctuary album and cannot be used anywhere else.
The process of defining your goals—by looking at what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it, what prevents you from achieving it and how you want to be rewarded when you achieve it—is enhanced with the addition of pictures. This allows you to visualize the goal, where you want to be and what your life will look like when you get there.
- How to send a photo from my cell or smart phone (e.g. iPhone) to the Goal & Vision Board?
Select your photo, click on "Email photo", then enter the email address photos@csvisionboard.com. That's it. Your photo will automatically find it's way to your private Coaching Sanctuary album. From there you can add it to your goals or your journal, and it will show up in your vision board. The photos that you upload are only used for your personal Coaching Sanctuary album and cannot be used anywhere else.
A few tips:
- Make sure the email address you send it from is the same as the email address you use to log in to Coaching Sanctuary account.
- Add this email address photos@csvisionboard.com to your address book for faster uploads.
- There is no need to add a subject line.
- You can also send a photo from your favorite photo application, such as Photoshop, Photoshop Express, Elements, or Picasa, by sharing the photo with the email address photos@csvisionboard.com.
- You can upload one or more photos at a time with just one email.
- What are the Activities, and why are they so important?
There are two types of Activities that you will schedule as part of goal setting—Practices and Actions. This is where you begin see real change. It’s also where you need to remain steadfast in your commitment to yourself and the life you want to live. Because here, you’ll be scheduling Practices and Actions that get you closer to achieving your goal and you will also begin replacing your old habits with new, positive, healthy ones that you perform on a consistent basis. You will create some Practices as part of the Journey, and create others specific to the goals that you set for yourself.
A Practice is something that you do more frequently and may also be specific to your goal, such as spending 25 minutes per day on the treadmill, working on a software tutorial, or attending a series of lectures on a subject of interest.
An Action is an activity that you do once, such as purchasing that treadmill you have always been thinking about.
Successful completion of your Practices and Actions helps you to achieve your goals and moves your closer to the life you were destined for.

Make the most out of the Vision Board
Creating your personal Vision Board
The Vision Board is a visual representation of your goals and dreams—a powerful way to make your dreams and aspirations more tangible and attainable. When you first click on the Vision Board, it contains random pictures, each of which can be replaced by images or photos of your own to represent the steps you must take to reach your goals.
Images are important motivators. They inspire us, relax us, make us smile, and make us think. They can evoke all our senses, making our dreams come alive; we can feel, smell, taste, see, and hear them and imagine what it will feel like to reach them. For example, perhaps a goal of yours is to return to Italy where you first met your partner. We suggest you find a picture of the two of you on that original trip and use it for inspiration in realizing your goal to return. Include a picture of your favorite local delicacy and a picture of a friend you made who you’d like to revisit. The richer your pictures, the more motivating they will be.
It’s useful to break your larger goals into smaller, more manageable steps, each illustrated by a separate picture to represent the stepping-stones toward achieving them.
Inspiration Quote: “To accomplish great things, we must dream as well as act.”

Bringing Goals to life
"The reason that most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable," says Denis Watley, author of the book "The Psychology of Success (Ten Proven Principles for Winning)". "Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them," Watley says.
You can probably name at least five goals that today remain dreams, ideas, or things that you wish you could do but don’t know how to start. The Coaching Sanctuary gives you the keys to turn desires into realities with a set of tools to set, define, and achieve your goals. We ask the questions that you may have been afraid to ask of yourself. Why do you want to achieve it, what prevents you from achieving it, how will you feel when you achieve it, and what will you reward yourself with once you achieve it? We also encourage you to add pictures to your goals to bring them to life and provide you with greater inspiration toward achieving them. When you do this, your goals are reflected on your Vision Board and become your road map to your desired future, your fulfilled life.
Goal setting becomes an important part of your personal growth since many goals are directly related to your overall health, happiness, and well-being. You know you would feel better, be happier, and have more energy if you could quit smoking, or lose 25 pounds. But all past attempts have failed. You were not inspired. You did not have a game plan. You did not think you were that important. As you advance through the other tools in the Coaching Sanctuary, you’ll be inspired to live a life that matters. You will come to believe that you matter.
With the right tools and inspiration at the right time, you can quit smoking, lose the extra weight, and find a job that gives you better work/life balance. Some of your goals will take longer than others to achieve. That’s all right. We have designed the program so you can prioritize your goals into short-, mid-, and long-term categories. Start small, and with each goal you achieve, you’ll be inspired to move on to the next.
We all have goals; the key is in how we turn those goals into reality—one step at a time, with the support of our friends, and with a little help from the Coaching Sanctuary.
Inspiration Quote: "A goal without a plan is just a wish."
