The Rewards of Giving and Receiving
Women often find it difficult to give to themselves without feeling guilty about it. A hot bath after a long day, some “me time” in the garden, or a 10-minute walk in nature too often gets left off our to-do lists. Throughout the Coaching Sanctuary we have interwoven questions to help you better understand how you like to reward yourself, and how you can be more aware of your personal needs. We also suggest ways you can make yourself feel better—guilt free. We remind our members often that giving to oneself and giving to others is an important part of your transformation to living a more fulfilled and rewarding life.
Philanthropic activities and volunteering are also important aspects of giving for women. A study by Melissa Brown from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University shows that women are more likely to give than men, and that women feel a strong responsibility to help those less fortunate. Furthermore, studies have shown that women of the Boomer Generation give an average of 65% more than younger or older generations.
In addition to learning how to give gifts to yourself, the Coaching Sanctuary provides an avenue for you to donate funds to various non-profits benefiting women globally. You will find this aspect of the Coaching Sanctuary rewarding and uplifting, knowing that you are part of something much larger and are making a difference in people’s lives. Giving will become a fundamental element of creating your Inspired Life.
Inspiration: “You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand."
- Thomas Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States (1856-1924)
