Journal Writing

The Importance of Journaling

Journey and Journal share the same Latin root, diadurnal, a word that means daily. Journaling frequently as part of your Journey will help you to clarify your thoughts and feelings, and allow you to tap into your inner wisdom with invaluable self-knowledge. When you write in your Journal as part of the transformational process, you tap into an inner wisdom that will guide you toward your greatest good.

You can tell your Journal anything. It doesn’t judge, it doesn’t offer opinions, and it keeps your secrets. As you express yourself on the page as part of the transformational process, you will become more aware and self motivated. Even if you’re not a “writer,” when you allow yourself to express your thoughts on the page, you’ll discover your own creativity and resourcefulness. Journaling can help you solve problems, see patterns of behavior, and free up your intuition and imagination. If you give it a little while, Journaling will become second nature, and a valuable part of your inner Journey.

The Coaching Sanctuary believes so strongly in the benefits of Journaling, we have seamlessly integrated the Journaling process into the Journey. You can access your Journal whenever and wherever you want. You can Journal about your goals, the impact a particular donation had on you, the activities of your day, or how you are feeling in the moment. Journaling is part of goal setting, practices, sharing with friends, and giving back to others. You can easily jot down your feeling or thoughts at any time.

There are no rules to Journaling. Because of its private nature, you get to write the way you want, expressing your thoughts and feelings in ways you find meaningful. You don’t have to use complete sentences, or even spend a long time with your Journal. A simple list of ideas or a few short phrases can lead to “aha” moments, and help you to track your progress as you Journey onward.

Inspiration: “We do not write because we want to, we write because we have to.”

- W. Sommerset Maugham, English Novelist (1874-1965)
